The churches in South Luton tell the Easter Story to Surrey Street School
The churches in South Luton led the morning assembly at Surrey Street School to tell the Easter Story. The Lion Story Teller Bible is used and it was the story of Old John telling his student Demetrius about the Crucifixion, the empty tomb and Jesus appearing in the Upper Room.
Carolyn Gomersall – Salvation Army Family Worker was the Narrator
On stage Mike Lewis – Methodist Minister took the part of Old John and Tony Sellers – St. Paul’s Vicar – played Demetrius his student.
Other actors depicting the story as it was told were Andrew Gale – Minister of Central Baptist as Jesus
Clive Latter – Youth Worker at Central Baptist was Young John
Anita Jones - Family Worker at Central Baptist was Mary the mother of Jesus
Gillian Henley – Strathmore Methodist was Mary Magdalene
Michael Adams – Strathmore Methodist was Peter
Roman Soldier – Nicki Ip St Paul’s C of E
Three of the year 5 pupils took part as disciples.
It is good that the local churches are welcomed into the school and six more assemblies are being planned for next term.
